5G paper highlights VR capabilities
April 7, 2017
ATIS have updated and published the second issue of their '5G Reimagined' White Paper, which gives the North American Perspective on deployment scenarios and use cases for 5G networks.
This 68 page paper provides a lot of detail on some of the use cases that will drive the introduction of 5G and the continued development of LTE functionality - to meet that need.

From the ATIS Press Release:
"Augmented and virtual reality are emerging as important technologies for entertainment and gaming. They also have extensive professional applications, for example, improving the situational awareness of emergency first responders. The use cases in the ATIS report will be important drivers for network requirements addressing improved latency and bandwidth as well as content distribution...
In addition to the augmented and virtual reality use cases, 5G Reimagined: A North American Perspective (Issue 2) provides additional detail on 5G deployment. It emphasizes mechanisms that will fully leverage the existing LTE network to guarantee a smooth rollout of 5G while ensuring a positive user experience during transition. The new white paper further provides an initial assessment of the network aspects of Optimized User Experience (OUx). Full OUx requirements will be discussed in detail in a separate white paper forthcoming in the second quarter of 2017."
