137 delegates from the 3GPP RAN4 Working Group have met in Singapore – the first 3GPP meeting in the Country in over ten years - to continue work on the specification of RF, Radio Resource Management and Demodulation requirements – treating over a thousand documents related to the 75 ongoing Release12 Work Items where RAN4 has a lead role.

3GPP Features dealt with included LTE Carrier Aggregation, Device-2-Device, Active Antenna Systems, UE Dual Connectivity and Small Cell Enhancements.

“This has been a rewarding experience for all of us, with the practical meeting arrangements up to the highest standards - allowing for smooth progress on the specifications and giving possibilities to see some interesting demos.”

About RAN4

RAN WG4 works on the RF aspects of UTRAN/E-UTRAN. RAN WG4 performs simulations of diverse RF system scenarios and derives the minimum requirements for transmission and reception parameters, and for channel demodulation. Once these requirements are set, the group defines the test procedures that will be used to verify them (only for BS). Requirements for other radio elements, like Repeaters, are specified in the RAN WG4 as well.
